The perfect location for last-minute gift shopping

We’re already a long way into December and Christmas is here this weekend. If you’re one of those

people who completes their Christmas gift shopping in October you can stop reading now,

because this blog is dedicated to all those people who need last-minute presents, or who wake up at

3am because they remembered they haven’t bought anything for Great-Aunt Mabel!

We love Croft Myl’s central location because it’s so easy to nip into the town centre, so here’s our

quick round-up of the brilliant independent shops within walking distance to solve those last-minute

gift dilemmas!

Harvey’s

Still run by the Harvey family – now on their third generation – the ultimate department store has a

dedicated gift section with plenty to choose from. Our tip – pick up one of Moorland Pottery’s

Yorkshire humour-themed mugs for the perfect present for that unexpected guest.

Red Patch

If it’s a little one you’re buying for, try traditional toy shop Red Patch in the Old Bank on Silver Street.

They stock wooden train sets, jigsaws and puzzles, perfect for presents.

Dolly Peg Boutique

Stocking children’s clothes, gifts and toys, pick up a beautiful hair slide as the perfect stocking-filler.

Dolly Peg Boutique also stocks great gifts for newborns if there’s a bump you need to buy for. Find

them in the Westgate Arcade.

Westgate Wine and Cheese

Also in the Westgate Arcade and perfect if you just want a spare present in the cupboard for that

unexpected guest, check out the large selection of beer, wine and Belgian chocolates at Westgate

Wine and Cheese. You can even grab a coffee and cake while you’re there.

Emma’s Apothecary

Completing our Westgate Arcade trilogy is Emma’s Apothecary. (You used to find them in The Old

Arcade a few blocks from Westgate Arcade but they’ve moved). You can’t beat beautiful smellies as

the ultimate gift for the person who has everything. Get yourself down to Emma’s for a lovely

selection of well-known brands and hand-made bath treats. They also have a homeware and gift

section, so you might get inspiration for other gifts too!
